One forum quoted that GM moved date codes to the side of the block in the 70's. This is passenger side between the core plugs. Block code (in the usual place) confirmed as 3970010 "M" code next to this. I just pulled this SBC from a 34 Vicky and this is the number on the back of the block 3970010.
